Why do so many dates in this syllabus take place on Fridays? Do we have class on Fridays too? Or is this just extra work?

Will we be spending our Monday classes discussing the work that is not only due that day, but the work we did on Friday as well?

Class won't meet on Fridays -- notice that every Friday item is just an announcement of a reading assignment.

It's not extra work, it's just an earlier reminder of what's due on Monday. I considered adding another item on every Monday that said "Discuss Readings," but that seemed unnecessary.

My usual policy is that students should post their reading assignments 24 hours before class time, but that would mean requiring the work be done Sunday morning, and I was never really comfortable with that.

Yes, we will discuss this reading assignment on the following Monday (though sometimes that discussion will mostly be online).

Since I've posted all these readings in advance, if you would rather not do any EL200 homework on Thursday night, you are welcome to work ahead and post those reading responses any time you wish... just be willing to post and reply to comments over the weekend before EL200 meets.

Does that answer your questions, Kayla?

Okay, so the assignments scheduled on Fridays are really due 24 hours before Monday, and any assignments on Mondays are still due that day. I think I've got it.

I didn't remember the syllabus being set up that way the last time I took the class. It was just assumed that every reading assignment required a response 24 hours before class met on Monday.
