The Wife (Irving)
(Moved from Aug 25)
The Wife is part of The Sketchbook of Geoffrey Crayon, which is available free in the iBooks iPad app, or in numerous formats from Project Gutenberg.
We did not get to this in class last week (Aug 25), so I've pushed this reading back to today. How does this selection relate to Young Goodman Brown?

Just proving a point....sometimes guys don't believe in love as much as the power of a moaning wife like Van Winkle's. But Mary, the wife here, is a different type of lady.

The two women are definetly different, but so were their husbands. Maybe if Rip adored Dame Van Winkle as much as Leslie adored Mary, Dame wouldn't have been such a B****. Just a thought.
Ok I can't delete the previous links but for the 3rd time and yes I am getting frustrated here is a link that I hope works!

Mary Jane, I have unpublished the comments that were published with incorrect URLs. Thanks for taking the time to check those links -- that shows you are thinking about your audience and taking the extra step to make sure your ideas get across to your peers. Good job. (If for some reason you'd like me to re-publish those comments, just give me a shout and I will. They're not deleted yet, just hidden.)
"Her life shall be like a fairy taleā¦"
Certainly doesn't sound like too much of a "happily ever after" for me...

We are only human...
For some reason I keep getting an error message trying to post this to Peaches' blog so I'm leaving it here....
A good relationship is a two way street with communication being key. Leslie was too concerned with himself and losing Mary than to talk to her about it. If you trust someone, you should not keep things from them in hopes it will go away. It only gets worse. We are all only human and if we truly love someone, we will stick by them through good and bad. Obviously Mary loved Leslie for who he was, not what he had.

I also forgot to add this one.
