Syllabus

Familiarize yourself with the syllabus, especially the attendance policy and the late-submission policy.

For every assigned reading, bring to class a half-page (printed) response, including

  • at least one direct quotation from the reading (with the page number) that you found insightful, puzzling, or otherwise noteworthy
  • a brief response (100-200 words) demonstrating your ability to relate the quotation to the main point
  • an idea -- relating directly to a specific passage in the text -- that you would be prepared to talk about if called on in class
All texts are in Rereading America, unless otherwise noted. Bring a separate half-page response to the Rose essay.
