Seton Hill Supports “Man of La Mancha” Student Outing (Feb 17 and 19)

Seton Hill University students can attend a local professional production of  the musical theatre classic “Man of La Mancha” for just $10 Feb 17 and Feb 19.

As part of the Stage Right Theatre Company’s professional season, the show will be staged February 17 – 19 at the Greensburg Garden Civic Center.

Seton Hill University students can sign up at the student activities office for the discounted $10 tickets, which are for the Friday night and Sunday matinee performances. (The regular ticket price is $22 for the general public, or $15 with a student ID.)

The production features Pittsburgh’s David Cabot as Don Quixote, Renata Marino as the object of his affection Aldonza, Tony Marino as his faithful squire Sancho and Kevin O’Leary as the heartless Sanson Carrasco, Mindy Wedner as his niece Antonia and Joe Pedulla as the Inn Keeper.

The production also features Point Park’s David Mahokey, and local actors Greg Kerestan, Roger Rhodes, Adam Grossett and Jeanne Kane. The production is directed by Anthony Marino and musically directed by Miss Cindy Baltzer. Man of La Mancha is a musical with a book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion and music by Mitch Leigh.

It is adapted from Wasserman’s non-musical 1959 teleplay I, Don Quixote, which was in turn inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’s seventeenth century masterpiece Don Quixote. It tells the story of the “mad” knight, Don Quixote, as a play within a play, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition.

The original 1965 Broadway production ran for 2,328 performances and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical has been revived four times on Broadway, becoming one of the most enduring works of musical theatre.

Director Anthony Marino: “I really think David is going to blow people away. His passion and incredible skill at his craft, brings this character to life in a way I’ve never seen before. You will laugh, cry and cheer”.
