Homeschool Reading List

My son will be starting sixth grade and my daughter will be starting first grade. Some families buy ready-made curricula, but we prefer to pick and choose. Our theme for the year is the Middle Ages, and we're tying to find works that accurately represent the conflicts of the era, without ignoring the imperfections of the church and the people who ran it, while avoiding books that perpetuate the idea that "the dark ages were nasty and ignorant times" accurately sums up the full cultural significance of the period.

Here's part of what we'll be using in 2008-09.
