5-minute formal presentations.
Schedule your oral presentations (use the arrow buttons to navigate to the right date, and click a button labeled “5-min presentation”).
The rubric will be the same as the 2-min version:
- Length: 5 min
- Topic: Your term paper
- Depth: Use of sources, academic tone, etc.
- Voice: Loud and clear; not too fast
- Body: Minimal fidgeting, good eye contact, professional appearance
Note the addition of “professional appearance” to the “Body” item. Men do not have to wear a suit and tie, and women do not have to wear power suits with hose and heels; however, wearing a hoodie and jeans, or leaving your shoes at home, sends the message that you don’t think this speech is important.
Please do not read your term papers. You are permitted to use visuals, but please review this video showing you how not to use PowerPoint.
