AP Guide to News Writing (Ch1 & Ch2)
- Read chapters 1 and 2.
- Write a half-page reflection and bring a printout with you to class.
I will introduce the weblogs in class on Friday, after which I would like you to start posting your agenda item and peer comments as I described them in class. But for now, just bring the half-page reflection to class.
Note that I am also asking for a different half-page reflection for today's other reading assignment.

The 1st and 2nd chapter of the AP guide book tells us about what kind of language should be used and that it should always be clear and consise, but also accurate and interesting. Things should be simple and direct. It also tells us about wasted words and wasted space. It says that vigorous writing is consise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, and a paragraph should contain no unnecessary sentences. It also helps me out by telling me that often slight rewording can produce dramatic results.
