The thing about PITCHEs is first-show up. This is something I learned by not showing up. If your not there then there is no way you're going to get the story you wanted. So just be there, so you have a better chance of doing somthing you want. Second-if your whole story is based on a big important-main focus one interview. Then try to have the interview set up before you make the pitch and get the story. You are not the only person ion the interview. You might want to make sure the person you plan on interviewing has time to be interviewed. Do not assume that the person will be free, or even want to do the interview. You might want to have these things set up before hand so your story/pitch doesn't fall part, and have you scrambling last minute to throw something together just to meet the deadlines. Do as much background work as needed to have your story, and to see if its really a story worth doing, and will you have enough time to write the story.
Maybe this will help someone, somewhere, sometime.
