Textbooks for Fall 2011

Students are starting to contact me asking about books.

I will have the course websites up in a week or two, but for now, here are the textbooks.

LA101 “Seminar in Thinking and Writing”

EL200 “Media Lab”

Some version of the AP Stylebook. Your choices include

  • AP Stylebook 2011 iPhone App (works on iPad, too; recommended for journalism majors and minors), OR
  • Associated Press Stylebook and Briefing on Media Law 2011 (ISBN  0465021875), OR
  • Any recent used copy of the AP Stylebook (but keep in mind you’ll be responsible for latest material, even if you buy an older textbook)

EL227 “News Writing”

  1. Elements of News Writing, Third Edition
    1. Coursemart eTextbook edition (rental, for iPad; 10 0-205-78113-6), OR
    2. Print (ISBN 10 0-205-78112-8)
  2. Some version of the AP Stylebook
