Ex 2: Localized Story
The local story (600 words) that includes material you learned from Dr. Alan Rosen's visit to class. Note that I am not asking you simply to write a news story about his visit to our classroom.
Instead, interview other local sources to generate a local story in which Dr. Rosen's expertise plays a role. (I'd be happy to listen to your ideas.)
This assignment was initially listed as the field trip report, but I changed it once I learned of Dr. Rosen's availability. (You won't need to write anything more about the field trip, other than what you wrote in Portfolio 1.)

Dr. Jerz, I'm a little confused... For some reason, I thought the Rosen article was due this Monday (the same day as the portfolio), but now that I see this I think I misunderstood something.
Does this mean our assignment for Monday is to complete the portfolio, and the article is to be completed for the following class session (when we actually meet again)?
Yes. I initially indicated the Rosen article would be due a week after the event, but I've extended that deadline to give you some more time to get additional sources.

can I tie in the recent death of the only holocaust survivor in congress to Dr Rosen?
Would it be wrong to, after Dr. Rosen's quotes and our other two "official" sources at minimum, quote blogs in our story?
Blogs would be fine, though contacting the blogger and having a longer conversation is also an option.
