Well, recasting "player" as "victim" and "parser" as "annoyance" suggests that the protagonist would rather jump off a cliff than deal with a clunky text parser. I can certainly understand that frustration, as can anyone else who has ever had the computer say "I don't know that word" for the fifteenth time in a row.
