The Last Jedi: Oh, the Feels.

No spoilers here. (I managed to avoid all spoilers, and hadn’t even seen the trailer. I did see still pics of porgs, though, and I knew the name of the character the StarWars Bros were hating on, so thank you to everyone who did their part to keep the secrets.)

No intellectual critical distance for me while watching this movie. I couldn’t even eat popcorn, I was so totally into the twists and turns; I was a trembling, snuffling wreck for the entire last hour. (It probably helped that my family and I rewatched all the films from Rogue One on in the last couple days.)

During the closing credits I was just pulling myself together when I read, you know, THAT.

  • I loved it. I honestly can't figure out why people are heaping so much hate toward it aside from 1) their theories didn't come true or 2) the Rotten Tomatoes "I'm okay with strong women but not at the expense of men" crowd.

(And yup, reading that broke me down. Most of Leia's stuff did, honestly, even reading her name in the opening scroll.)

  • It’s been a week and a half, I think anyone worried about spoilers would have seen it by now.

  • We waited to read that. 😢
On that same topic, Thinking about real life made a certain scene poignant & surreally beautiful when it would have otherwise seemed trippy

    • I agree- surreally beautiful 🌟 That's where my tears began...but she came into her own, Finally!!

  • I'm leaning towards calling it the best Star Wars film, because much as I love A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, there's a primitivism to them: they're clearly made by an idea man who is exploring his craft but hasn't mastered it. This is what happens when that same sense of scale and wonder is accomplished by a team who already have the craft distinctly figured out.
