Ex 2-1: Professional Portfolio (job ad; revised resume; cover letter; writing sample)
Think of this as an expansion of your previous portfolio. Demonstrate your willingness to revise (drawing from feedback from peers, from classroom instruction, your own research, and from me).
See handouts on Top 5 Resume Tips; content; presentation.
This time, I am also asking for a cover letter and writing sample.

You said this should be an expansion, so do you want just the four things listed or something more?
Think of those four items as a bare minimum.
I'm not really interested in reading "homework," but rather I'm interested in offering you my professional opinion on the quality of your developing professional portfolio. You have also read professional material (Lemire), heard a speaker, interviewed several sources; you may have discussed career options in other classes.
A really top-quality portfolio will also make use of the other resources you have available.
I'm still a bit confused. Do you want the former portfolio where I turned in the interviews, writing samples, and portfolio reflection with the cover letter and revised resume added to it? I guess I am confused with the word "homework" above.
Also, is this to be turned in on turnitin.com or printed out and brought to class?
Those are all good questions, Angela. When I said I'm not interested in reading "homework," I was trying to emphasize that this is your opportunity to get some feedback on materials that can have a powerful impact on your future, so I'm encouraging you to take it seriously, so that you don't think of the revision assignment as a chore or a pointless grammar exercise, but rather an opportunity to explore your professional voice (as represented in your professional portfolio).
Since we'll be devoting class time to a peer review, please do bring a printout. (But, because I got so weighted down with paper last time, I'm asking that you NOT turn in this assignment to me on paper -- please upload it to the Turnitin slot.)
