Print Journalism: Tribune-Review
Read (and bring to class) a copy of Tuesday's Tribune-Review. Copies are usually available for free outside the cafeteria, and there is a copy for you to consult in Reeves Library.
In class, we will be focusing on the newspaper as a physical object, and specifically on the layout of the front page.
In class, we will be focusing on the newspaper as a physical object, and specifically on the layout of the front page.
- What is the function of the various parts of the front page?
- How do those parts work together to communicate the relative importance of the news items?
- How does the front page differ from the Tribune-Review home page?

"LIVING Teens replace face-to-face communicating with texting about how they are running from the UNDEAD teens trying to feast on their brains."
Obviously, LIVING refers to the section title, but maybe a colon or a different typestyle would clarify that section.
Note how small are the pictures of Taylor, Gadhafi, and Jackson.
Please don't just comment on the issues I bring up... what do you *think* is worth discussing?
Is the Newspaper a form of controversy or is it simply facts...

The front page of a newspaper is a map to the middle of the paper. Read more and I will explain:

Source vs. Source...or lack of?
Please disregard the last link, it is meant for the Clark and Scanlon reading. Here is the correct link:

I think that this papers layout is quite interesting. It targets different topics. Though grabs the readers attention on different levels. Such as the picture of the 9/11 memorial and script are something of importance as we lead into the remembrance of such a tragic day in history. Though as they published that article that put the article of Gadhafi right under it. Which would be a shocker to most but could be read with anger or for educational purposes. Due to the fact they could think it is another attack. Though in reality they read more because it is another nations dictator stepping into our territory which could lead into certain events. Shocking quote, "Gadhafi is a dangerous dictator whose hands are covered with the blood of Americans and our allies." Though it goes on to explain people want to know these things so. I think that the front page showed a bit of theme with a more national effect as the articles seemed to bounce off one another. Though some may disagree!
Extry! Extry! Read all about it!
