My kids are sick, so Leigh and I planned to go to church separately today. Okay, let me clarify what I meant by priests not being allowed to support athletic events. If you ever hear a priest say during the Homily, "Go Packers!" or "Go [insert team here]!" then that can get him into serious trouble.
It made for a humorous event after he indulged in the liquid refreshment. Especially when he was in checkmate in 3 moves. He could be heard over the football fanatic's yelling at the television that someone had to be cheating. Let's see... Him? He claim's he's a master at chess. I disagree. Maybe he should learn again,or lay off of the liquid refreshments if he's going to play chess. Either way he's enjoyable to be around. He's a Priest that actually cares about his parish family. I've met some that do not care. There is a big difference between the two.

Mass and The Superbowl an odd combination. However, we went to Mass, I even ended up having to serve. All thanks to the 24 other server's that failed to read , or should I say take a minister's list with them so they would know they were scheduled to serve! So instead of sleeping through Mass, which is what I thought I might get to do during the Homily, I had the privilege of sitting up front watching everyone else sleep during the Homily. All joking aside, I did attend Mass,and I did serve at Mass. Then the rest of my day was spent at a Superbowl party with our Priest. He didn't even watch the game! He played chess the entire time, and he's the one that wanted to have the party. Just when I think I have it all figured out someone goes and changes the screen on me. I read the comment about Priest's not being allowed to support an athletic event. Maybe it's just where I'm from, but as long as there's beer the Priest's are ready to go.

There's no good place to insert this comment but it seems necessary. Last night, while not watching the Superbowl, I entirely by chance was reading this blog while, in another tab, waiting for documentation for "Deadline" to load. As if I'd get two rooms into an *Expert* level Infocom game. Anyway, I have some icons in my browser toolbar, one of which is linked to The Weather Underground so I can keep up on our lousy winter weather. Well, as I read the blog the magick of being linked to both these sites (it seems) turned the Weather Underground icon to an infocom icon. Cool. What does it mean though?

Dennis, I find it interesting that Mass was cancelled today over football, although I am guessing you meant that as a joke (it is 11:41pm in WI, so bear with me). I remember talking with a good friend of mine who is a Catholic priest over in Menomonie, WI now, and he said for clergy to support an athletic event or sport results in a big "No-No" from the community and could leave him in a world of trouble.
