Discworld MUD: Slinging Dirt with David Bennett

I doubt anyone could accuse me of literature. Online text games tend to have quite a different emphasis than a book. I am not trying to tell a story as much as I am trying to describe a location and an atmosphere. I try to make the descriptions detailed and interesting enough for people to believe they are actually there. I think this is one area the creators and I have tried hard to do well from early on, making the room descriptions very detailed. —David BennettDiscworld MUD: Slinging Dirt with David Bennett (Armchair Arcade)

Bennett created a MUD based on Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books.

  • Fairly decent books. The early ones were fresh and exciting, but the later books reveal that Pratchett is just churning out books as fast as possible using the same tired charaters. Pratchett's "Small Gods" is a excellent parable about modern religion, and his earlier "Colour of Magic" is hilarious, but the last few have been pretty poor.
