4 Skills to Help You Stand Out In Any Job Interview

An employer will never ask you to write a five-paragraph essay, but your employer will expect you to demonstrate the critical thinking skills that you will develop while mastering the college essay. How will you set yourself apart from all the other job applicants who have also passed freshman comp? These are all specific skills I expose my students to through working on their academic weblogs and the online student newspaper.

The four skills recommended in this article are:

  1. Content management (e.g. WordPress)
  2. Photo editing / design
  3. HTML
  4. CSS

Now you know that tech skills are important. But what tech skills should YOU learn to start working towards a new or better career? What will get you—and keep you—the job of your dreams?

And what should you do if you don’t know the first thing about tech, let alone anything about user interfaces? …. Start by getting the fundamentals in the following four areas. That might be all you need to do your work more efficiently and effectively.
