Books vs. Kindles: The Choice No One Made Ever

“I bought a Kindle. I didn’t immediately go home and burn all my other books. I didn’t stop buying paper books. I read both and no one came knocking at my door. It’s a boring story, I know. I’m thinking of adding in a talking pig and a plot to destroy Lady Elaine from Mr. Roger’s world of make believe. But it’s the truth. There is absolutely no reason you can’t have both and no reason for people to frame the argument in a false dichotomy.” —Chris Brehceen

  • It's hard to read any tables or figures on Kindles; they seem best for novels. Also, graphic novels and comics are best read when printed, in my opinion. I enjoy both books and Kindles.

  • I have difficulty reading from a kindle. I think it is because I came to this late in life. By then, my reading habits were set. For me, a book is much more than a set of printed pages stitched together in a bundle. It is not the story either. A book is much more than the sum of its component parts. But for a new kid brought up in a digital environment from a very young age, it might be different. For them, the digital devise will be the real thing.

  • The Kindle is not the better reader. I wont elaborate since the previous poster answered the question so well. Sony Reader Forum is available if you want to learn more about the Sony. I myself have 2 Sony Readers (PRS-505 & PRS-900) and just ordered the PRS-950 since they are on sale. I also have a Kindle 2.
