I am not sure what I think of this. I’m guessing it will feature new characters in the rebooted universe, but I don’t see any info on that. Who exactly was the audience for this vague announcement?
The new Star Trek will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.

As I read into this I note that CBS retains the right to make Strek Trek TV shows, while Viacom/Paramount owns the rights to make Trek movies.
…perhaps because they think no-one is paying attention right now anyway, with StarWarsMaggedon dropping next month?
