While there’s an instrumental theme from Civilization III that’s even catchier, I was happy to run into an old friend.
For the first time ever, a music score from a video game has won a Grammy Award, as Christopher Tin’s “Baba Yetu” from Civilization IV won the Grammy for “Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)”.
While it may seen strange for a game released in 2005 to win a Grammy for work done in 2010, but the “Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)” Award is for new arrangements of orchestral pieces with choruses, and the Grammy is for the rendition done at Video Games Live 2010, as seen in the trailer below.
