What a coincidence that you posted on this! Did you see Donovan Hohn’s essay from Jan. 2007 Harper’s, “Moby Duck”? (I just blogged about it yesterday.)
As far as Friendly Floatees go, the beavers must not be as friendly. Maybe it was the beavers who chewed their way out in the first place.
I wonder why this article didn’t mention the red beavers? A picture in the article shows them and this wiki article and other news articles mention them.
