The real problem is timing — they had called me for the second week of classes. I wouldn’t mind sharing this civic responsibility so much when I’m not so busy, but the first couple weeks of term are crazy enough.

I had the same thing with an appearance for a traffic ticket – they asked me to come on Monday, September 24, at 9 AM. I got my appearance moved to this Monday, before the semester starts.
