I am intrigued by the possibility that Miley Cyrus’s alleged “performance” at VMA was intended as a criticism of the pro-date-rape sentiment of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” but I suspect we’re just witnessing the latest celebrity breakdown. Here’s a mommyblogger who calls it as she sees it.
Yes, this is what happens when you constantly hear everything you do is awesome. This is what happens when people fawn over your every Tweet and Instagram photo. This is what happens when no responsible adult has ever said the word “no,” made you change your clothes before leaving the house, or never spanked your butt for deliberate defiance. If you ever even consider doing something like that, I promise you that I will run up and twerk so you will see how ridiculous twerking looks.

Just another Hollywood sinking star trying to get some attention. It is really sad since some young girls may think of her as a role model. Some actions are private and reserved for the bedroom for men and women married to one another. The only positive thing I saw – she did not promote an alternative lifestyle. I can only pray for her. The performance was a disgrace to women everywhere.
Scapegoating the nearest guy? He produced the song! Oh boy
I was laughing at the comments that even celebrities were scandalized by her performance. Give me a break, Rianna and Madonna and Gaga were probably jealous as all get out that they didn’t get to do it and the dancers that came out with the rapper (forgot his name) were nearly as bad as Miley. Yuk to it all!

(Not saying he shouldn’t be mentioned somewhere in the article though)
Personally, I thought it was surprisingly non-sexist, and a sign of social maturity, that they actually blamed her for her performance rather than trying to scapegoat it on the nearest guy.

Dear son, let Robin Thicke be a lesson to you…
What’s intriguing is that yours is the first of the hundreds of messages I’ve seen pass my feed that even acknowledged Robin Thicke’s involvement. Interesting social commentary that there has been very little criticism of him…and yet the whole world is castigating Cyrus.
