Does the support craft need an antenna? Love the shadows!
I was thinking the little ship needs its own little flagpole. The top and bottom of the sphere have a little pop-out insert with openings for scientific instruments. I’m sure there’s probably an antenna of some sort that’s currently folded down and stored in the roof of the little black cabin behind the sphere. Maybe that roof opens up like the Space Shuttle cargo bay, and there’s room inside for whatever gadgets the plot calls for.
