A student who admits plagiarising his way through his three-year degree course plans to sue his university for negligence after he was caught out on the day before his final exam.
Michael Gunn was told by the University of Kent at Canterbury earlier this month that a routine review of his English literature degree coursework “has revealed extensive plagiarism from internet sources”. —‘Plagiarist’ to sue university (Times Higher Education Supplement)

It’s never about the money, is it? Then why are they suing–certainly not to make a point… Sounds like a three-year scheme and not a three-year degree, if you ask me. This kind of story makes students look bad on the whole. *argh*
This incident can make it’s way into the “Only in America” handbook hands down. You’re way ahead of me Dr.Jerz. I’m still trying to figure out how the fast food industry is responsible for making people fat, or how a woman walked with millions of dollars because the hot coffee she bought spilled and burnt her. Dear dear God. Sigh.
Please dear Lord, don’t let one nickel of my taxpaying dollars go towards having to legally defend against this lawsuit. Please give them the wisdom to throw it out of court.
