I just took this poll on WPXI’s website. Here are the results. :-
For whatever reason, out-of-place parentheses are often used around a word in more disreputable sites as an indicator that the word between them is a euphemism for “Jewish” or “the Jews.” When I see out of place parentheses, I ask myself “erratic punctuation, or coded message?”
