This short film documents an early attempt to use hypertext to help students study poetry. A fascinating early collaboration between computer science and the humanities.

This is a fantastic post. By about the 6 minute mark I realized that the challenges, design metrics, social communication goals and programming strategies haven’t changed much. Technology has just got faster and smaller, lol. Makes me think we haven’t scratched the surface. Did you catch his reference to the different sections of the screen environment as “windows” pre-consumer GUI? The call for balance between content and delivery versus the new communication methodology, especially in an environment without the internet, cable in the dorms, 3 channels on TV, and 8-Track, to me shows just how impressed they were. Real cool.
